Thanks to some inspiration from Seth Godin, Bill is focused on intent and empathy. Very important for all brands!
Q2: 47% of buyers view 3-5 blogs or other pieces of content before starting the buying process. How can we create strong, valuable blogs in 2019?

A2) Three letters: S-E-O
Creating content that includes keywords & phrases that your audience is searching for is one of many ways to get your content seen and your brand considered as the client continues to inform themselves before making a purchase.#ContentWritingChat pic.twitter.com/D33HPyJg5h
— Jason Schemmel – Speaker & Podcaster #GSDChat ️ (@JasonSchemmel) January 8, 2019
If you want your content to be discovered, it’s all about effectively optimizing your content. Spend some time studying the best SEO practices and put them to use.
A2: As ever, it’s crucial to KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE. What are they looking for (content/imagery/message), and where are they interacting with said content? Know what drives them to convert.#ContentWritingChat https://t.co/SlD02SLh7r
— ThinkSEM (@ThinkSEM) January 8, 2019
As Sarah mentioned, knowing your audience is crucial to your success. In order for your blog posts to be a hit, you have to create the content your audience is searching for and deliver tremendous value.
A2: By listening to our target audience and understanding WHAT exactly they want to know and provide them the answers they’re searching for! Consumer-focused content will always reign supreme no matter the year. #ContentWritingChat
— Maria Marchewka (@_MariaMarchewka) January 8, 2019
Maria agrees, as she said consumer-focused content will always reign supreme.
A2. Valuable blogs start with the questions that people are asking about a topic. Answer those questions with depth, you build trust. With enough trust people will see your blog as an authority on the subject and consider you first in the buying process #ContentWritingChat
— Gene Petrov – Leadership Coach to Marketers (@GenePetrovLMC) January 8, 2019
Take the time to answer the questions your audience is asking. In time, you’ll become the go-to resource in your niche and you’ll establish trust with your target readers.
A2: If buyers are viewing blog posts before making a purchase, use your content to answer any and all potential questions they may have! More information can help put them at ease when making a purchase. #ContentWritingChat
— Netvantage Marketing (@netvantage) January 8, 2019
Make sure you answer any and all potential questions your customers might have. You need to use your content to break down any obstacles that might be standing in the way of them making a purchase.
A2: A big part of making your blog better is the UX. Can buyers easily choose their own adventures? Do you have engaging content & intuitive navigation to support their browsing? #ContentWritingChat
— Shelly Lucas (@pisarose) January 8, 2019
And of course, you need to ensure your website is providing a great experience for visitors. If not, they’ll be rushing to exit your website and they’ll never give your content a chance.
Q3: If you’re thinking about adding a new content format to your brand’s online presence this year, which one will you go for and why?
Is 2019 the year you add video to your content strategy? Or maybe you want to give podcasting a go? These are the content formats some of our chat participants will be focusing on:
A3
Consider adding video to your content marketing strategy. It is set to be HOT in 2019!
I’m committed to a weekly YouTube video in 2019. I’m strategic about channel topics + format. https://t.co/EzE9Rrqr5M
REMEMBER: Focus is key. Don’t dilute – focus! #ContentWritingChat pic.twitter.com/M0MPim1cku
— Julia McCoy (@JuliaEMcCoy) January 8, 2019
If you’re torn between video or podcasting, Julia thinks video is the way to go. Just make sure you get strategic about what you’re posting and focus on serving your audience.
A3: Video is the new standard. If you aren’t making videos, you’re more than missing out. Explainers, vlogs, stories, video podcasts, testimonials, blooper reels… The list goes on. I may be biased, but video content is the biggest thing in content. #contentwritingchat
— tim_mechling (@doomhugs) January 8, 2019
Tim agrees that it’s all about video. He said it’s great for vlogs, telling stories, sharing testimonials, etc. You can really get creative here!
A3: Podcasting. It’s growing, there’s plenty of under-served niches, it builds authority and it takes waaaaay less time to create than video #ContentWritingChat
— Warwick Brown (@warwickabrown) January 8, 2019
For Warwick, 2019 is all about podcasting!
A3: Podcasts are a great way to go! They are convenient for your audience as they can listen to them pretty much anywhere + a great way to share valuable information. Convenience is key! #ContentWritingChat
— Tamara (@itstamaragt) January 8, 2019
Tamara is also interested in podcasts because of their convenience. They’re so easy to consume, especially because you can listen while doing other tasks.
#A3 We’ve recently added a podcast to our content strategy. This year we’ll be focusing a ton on regular webinars as well. I also think we’ll be focusing a lot on how we amplify our content, and cross-publish to different formats and mediums. #contentwritingchat https://t.co/PggEQEMod9
— Lexi Hartmann (@LexiMStL) January 8, 2019
Lexi recently directed her focus onto podcasting, but she’s also going to be doing webinars this year. Both are great opportunities to connect with your audience. Plus, cross-posting your content will help you get the most traction.

Getting creative with visuals can be a great way to go this year as well. You can experiment with video, GIFs, graphic design, photography, and infographics.
A3: Before adding a new content format, get to know your audience. How do they want to receive the content you are sharing? Then test that format to make sure they are responding positively. #ContentWritingChat
— Netvantage Marketing (@netvantage) January 8, 2019
One final piece of advice for you… To choose which content formats are right for your brand, consider your audience. Get to know them and what they want. How do they want to receive and consume content? Once you figure that out, you can start testing to see what works and what doesn’t.
A3: Depends on the type of content format that best resonates with YOUR audience! If you’re unsure, ask the audience. They’ll let you know what they’d like to see moving forward. #ContentWritingChat
— Maria Marchewka (@_MariaMarchewka) January 8, 2019
Maria agrees! If you aren’t sure what your audience wants, ASK THEM. It’s that simple.

With so many social media platforms, it can often feel overwhelming trying to keep up with everything. So, where should you direct your attention? And how do establish your presence and build an audience that cares? Just follow these tips:
A5a
Your platform choice should resonate with where your audience is.

IG is currently the fastest growing network
YouTube is growing users nearly 2x as fast as Facebook (2.2 billion monthly users)#ContentWritingChat— Julia McCoy (@JuliaEMcCoy) January 8, 2019

A5: We love Twitter for promoting/sharing content; we love Facebook for ads.
Again, know your audience: where are they, and more importantly, where are they interacting with content?#ContentWritingChat https://t.co/Tu1naH3UUf
